5 Reasons to Try a Coworking Space (Even If You Think It's Not For You)

Maybe you've walked past a coworking space and assumed it's not really for you. Too expensive. Too open plan. Full of people on loud calls. Or maybe you just haven't thought about it much at all.

We get it. Before we opened Yoke Hub, we had some of the same assumptions. But having spent time building a coworking community here in Frome, we've seen first-hand how it changes the way people work and feel about work. Here are five reasons it might be worth giving it a go.

1. The flexibility is better than you think

You don't have to commit to five days a week. At Yoke Hub we offer part-time desk options from £14 per day, so you can start with just one day a week and see how it fits into your routine. It's a much lower commitment than taking on office space of your own, and you can scale up if it suits you.

2. It solves the isolation problem

Loneliness is one of the most commonly cited downsides of freelancing and remote work. It creeps up on you. Coworking doesn't force you to be social, but it puts you in the same room as other people who get it. People who are self-directed, motivated, and often working on interesting things. That ambient energy is genuinely useful.

3. Everything is sorted for you

Desk, chair, fast internet, meeting room, kitchen, 24/7 access. It's all included. You don't have to think about it. Compare that to working from a coffee shop, fighting for a plug socket, nursing a flat white for three hours, hoping the WiFi holds up, and the value becomes pretty clear.

4. It's good for your output

Studies consistently show that people are more productive in coworking spaces than at home. Part of that is the environment, part of it is the social accountability of being around other people who are working. Whatever the reason, most people who try coworking find they get more done.

5. You might find your next collaborator

Some of the best working relationships start with a chat over a coffee in a shared space. At Yoke Hub, we've already seen members connect, collaborate, and refer work to each other. When you're freelance or running a small business, that kind of community has real value.
